Wrestling In San Diego

San Diego has a rich history of wrestling that goes far beyond San Diego. One of the greatest wrestlers who was also one of the best coaches just recenly passed away. J Robinson went to Mount Miguel HS. Jay Robinson wrestled in college, on world teams and was an assistant coach under the great Dan Gable. He went on to create a powerhouse at Minnesota, where he also created the greatest camp in the world, which sadly went away due to the pandemic. San Diego is the home to the first ever African American to compete at NCAA was Harold Jackson who wrestled for San Diego State. We have a proud tradition, a tradition that is on its way back. So here’s a list of some programs in San Diego that are helping kids find the sport and find success. The list is not complete, so if I’m missing someone, send me a note and I’ll add it.

This list does not list the high schools, of which there are 90 programs in San Diego, these are just the programs that run in the off-season as clubs listed by region and show which ones include kids, youth (middle school), High School and Adult programs.
