Coach Sam Litvin

Coach Sam started wrestling in Ukraine. He was a captain at San Dieguito Academy and at UC San Diego.

Before arriving at Patrick Henry, Coach Sam was the assistant coach at San Dieguito Academy, volunteer coach at La Costa Canyon High School under Dwayne Buth, coached the UCSD NCWA Club and Tel Aviv Wrestling Club.

Coach Litvin lead Patrick Henry to a third place in City, 9th in county. Under Coach Litvin Patrick Henry had its first Masters Champion and qualified two wrestlers for the state championships.

Coach Litvin’s philosophy is to assure wrestlers safety, fun and learning to realize their their potential, on and off the mat.

Coach Bernie Miles

Coach Bernie Miles has been an assistant wrestling coach at Patrick Henry since 2011. Working alone side three head coaches during this time, bringing experience and continuity to the program. He brings the mental perspective of wrestling  to the team, helping the wrestler get to the right headspace to compete. Coach Bernie wrestled at Lane Tech High School in Chicago. He was the North Section Champion in his senior year, 3rd in City and a State Qualifier. When he is not coaching he works in the human service sector as a Senior Program Manager for the Corporation for Supportive Housing.

Coach Jores Peters – Volunteer

Jores Peters joined the Patrick Henry wrestling team as a volunteer wrestling coach in 2023. He is a native of the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York and has resided in California for the past 15 years. He lives in Allied Gardens with his wife, Carolina, and their three boys, Jores, Santiago, and Jovan. They also have two dogs June and Sadie.

As a coach he was an Assistant Coach at Imperial High School in Imperial, California from 2012-2016, and has been a volunteer coach for several years both in New York and California. During his time at Imperial High School, the boys and girls’ teams experienced an incredible transformation to become top contenders in San Diego CIF Division 4. During his coaching tenure, Imperial had 9 individual CIF champions, 4 Masters placers and 3 state qualifiers.

Prior to coaching he competed collegiately at Oswego State University and wrestled at Watkins Glen High School under New York State legendary coach Mike Watson. As a high school wrestler, he was a two-time co-captain, IAC Champion, multi–Class Sectional placer and took 3rd at NYS Section 4 Championships. He also placed 7th in New York State in both freestyle and Greco.

His coaching philosophy is to provide a positive social setting for scholar athletes to grow together in both their wrestling and in life. He strives to create an energetic and fun learning atmosphere that emphasizes personal accountability. His approach is a coaching style that is moldable to the athlete’s personality and avoiding forcing athletes to follow a certain coaching program. “Athletes learn best, when you meet them where they’re at, and not where you’re at”.
