Girls and Boys Place at El Cajon and Warriors of the West, JV Wrestle at Helix Duals

Two tournaments bookended the Winter Break: Boys Varsity at El Cajon Invitational at start of the break and Girls Varsity Warriors of the West at the end. Henry wrestlers did a superb job at both.

Two day El Cajon Invitational at Olympian High School had four Patriots attend: senior Ethan Vinoray, freshman Ayden Ventura, sophomore Alistar Santos and freshman William Soares. William unfortunately had to end his first match due to an injury. Alistar Santos wrestled seven matches winning four of them in order to place 5th in the tournament. Ayden Ventura battle nine opponents beating seven of them earning him a 4th place out of more than forty teams. Ethan Vinoray was a Patriot Finalist, wrestling against two ranked wrestlers, losing a narrow match against Central Union, earning Patriots a 17th place out of 47 teams.

On January 3rd eight Lady Patriots wrestled at Clairemont High School. For many it was their first varsity tournament. Maverick Garcia lost in the blood round due to injury. Maggie Pryor had several wins but was shy of placing. Avery Barbour had a record of 2-2 and lost in blood round to her teammate. Zoe Diaz Hay had a record of 2-2 and lost in blood round as well. Freshman Kinsley Bannister had four wins and two losses, getting her 5th place. Senior Avery Lund also took fifth with four wins and two losses getting the team 17 points, putting the Patriots 16th as a team.

10 Boys from JV team competed at the Helix JV Duals on Dec 20. They wrestled five teams going 1-4, winning against San Pasqual and losing a few close matches. Five boys placed including Seth Carling (3rd) freshmen Brendon Capshaw (3rd), sophomore Eshan Murrell and senior Chris Acevedo both took second and sophomore Gio Eustaquio took first place with five wins. 

This week Patriots wrestle against Mira Mesa in League, JV wrestle at Eastlake JV Titian tournament and Boys Varsity will wrestle at Jim Londos Tournament at Orange Glen High School
