On Dec 3rd, Patrick Henry Patriots hosted the first East County Brawl with Monte Vista, Santana and El Cajon Valley. The three schools dualed each other for three hours in a three hour boys varsity battle. The night was Western Themed and was hosted by the Patrick Henry Honorary Coach, Principal Sandra White.
Patriots lost one match and won the rest by pin against Santana. El Cajon won the 190lb match. Senior Van Alvarez injured his shoulder at start of match but continued to wrestle, but could not over come the injury and lost by decision.
Last Match was against Santana. Patriots came in with 6 forfeits after losing Van Alvarez. Patriots wrestled with hussle and heart overcoming the deficit with pins from freshmen Dominic Pavone, Ayden Ventura and Will Soares. Sophomore Eshan Murrell stepped in for a teammate after that teammate couldn’t wrestle due to injury, and brought in two pins for Patriots. Seniors Ethan Vinoray, Cole Stephenson pinned their opponents and Abdullah Alshami came back to win his match.
The record extended to 6-0 for Patriots with an upcoming matches Saturday at Bonita and Wednesday at Saint Augustine.
