Patriots 3-0 at Liberty Bash

Two years ago, Patrick Henry and Hoover coach got together and created the first ever Liberty Bash. It was a dual that was centered around a Patriotic Theme. Last year the dual was at Madison and added James Madison High School and Lincoln High School. Patrick Henry took 1st in boys and 2nd with girls.

This year the tournament was to take place at Lincoln High School, but last minute was moved to Patrick Henry. Mar Vista stepped in to wrestle in Lincoln’s spot. Patrick Henry JV and Varsity boys and girls did not dissapoint.

The match up wasn’t very even due to a small varsity from Madison and Hoover. Patriot JV won the Hoover match-up but lost the Madison dual. Girls won against Madison and Mar Vista but lost by one match to Hoover.

Varsity won by forfeits to Hoover 60-3 with the match of the night between top ranked Powerful Land and senior Van Alvarez. Land edged out Alvarez by two points with a score of 5-3, who wrestled up at 215 instead of his usual 190lb class.
Varsity had a rematch with Mar Vista and won by pin all matches. Notable matches were pins by freshmen Dominick Pavone, Ayden Ventura and Will Soares, who all had their first varsity wins. Senior Chris Acevedo, a second year wrestler also won by pin. The final score was 60-12 with 12 coming from forfeits.

Patriots ended up taking the shield for overall winners home while Hoover won the girls trophy.
