Our regular season is at an end as we enter Week 14 with CIF championships coming this Saturday.
This season we expanded to adding two big tournaments, Jimmy Hamada and Temecula Valley as well as two novice tournaments for our JV and Freshmen.
The young team faced tougher competition compared to previous years. We ended up finishing 2-3 in our league and 8-6 overall. We had four league champions and we took 2nd place at Hilltop Duals and 3rd place at City Championships with four placers and two champions.
Patriots had a lot of young colorful characters on the team with 15 new wrestlers as well as a big surprise from the Vinoray brothers Ethan and Elijah, both of whom exceeded expectations and for the first time we have two brothers who are both City and League Champions in addition to Koa Altmeyer (son of Patriot Wrestling Alumni Greg Altmeyer) and first year wrestler Aedyn Jamison.
We enter this post season with a lot of momentum, with both Vinoray brothers and Aedyn Jamison poised to place at Masters tournament and qualify for State Championships.
Additionally also held our first ever Alumni night, had great guest speakers, attained a cumulative GPA of 2.8, got new mats and added climbing rope, added record boards and pull up bars to the room as well as doubled our fundraiser from last year which enabled us to go to more tournaments, and have funds for scholarships for camps for this summer.
We are also set to begin a middle school and kids program wrestling in partnership with Lewis Middle School.
2022/2023 is not yet over but we are already excited and can’t wait to start planning 2023/2024 season with big plans for kids and girls wrestling program.
Alumni, please keep an eye out for our newsletter as we will hold another Alumni Banquet at the end of the year to bring back alumni and induct the new graduates into the Patrick Henry Wrestling Alumni family .
If you would like to purchase some Patrick Henry Wrestling gear that will support the program, please follow this link to the store setup by Al’s Sportshop.
