After a great 2021 season with a 6th place team at Division 1 CIF, the Patrick Henry Wrestling team is rebuilding with 6 returning wrestlers having lost 6 seniors. The team is already off to a good start with 24 wrestlers who survived the grueling first two weeks known as hell weeks. The team competed against Sweetwater High School where all but one wrestler won their matches including a freshman Ana Vavilov.
On Saturday, November 20th the team competed in the second annual Granite Hills tournament. Last year the team placed 7th of 18 teams with two placers. This year the team bettered their last year’s success with 5th place out of a field of 21 teams with five placers including two finalists. Senior and team captain Roy Rivas placed fourth along with sophomore Alex Adler. Senior Jake Lozano started his season strong with a third-place win and Junior Mikey Krause and heavyweight senior Jeffrey Dotson both finished second.
This year is expected to be an exciting one with a CIF runner-up Jared Hollander coming back to the mat once the very successful football season is over as well as last year’s 3rd place CIF placer Elajah Vinoray.
